Skillsive Cookies and Similar Technologies Policy
Important policies for using Skillsive services, privacy settings, and account safety on public pages.
1. Introduction
This Policy explains how Skillsive ("we", "us") uses cookies and similar technologies, such as local storage (browser's local storage), when you use our platform. This document describes the types of technologies used, the purposes for their use, their storage duration, and how users ("you", "your") can manage them.
We understand the importance of your privacy, which is why we implement security measures such as the secure and samesite=strict flags for cookies.
This Policy complements our Privacy Policy, where you can find more information about personal data processing.
2. What are cookies and local storage?
Cookies are small text files saved on your device (computer, tablet, smartphone) by the website you visit. They are sent back to the server with each subsequent visit. They enable, among other things, session authentication, remembering preferences, or analyzing traffic.
Local Storage is another technology for storing data directly in your browser. Data in local storage is not automatically sent to the server with every request (like cookies) and typically remains stored until manually deleted by the user or by the application. It has a larger capacity than cookies.
Further in this document, when referring to "tracking technologies" or "similar technologies," we mean both cookies and local storage, unless stated otherwise.
3. What technologies do we use and why?
3.1. Strictly Necessary Cookies and Data
These are absolutely essential for the proper functioning of the platform, ensuring security, and providing basic services (e.g., login, session maintenance, access to organization resources). They do not require your consent.
Examples (Cookies):
auth- stores authentication session data (e.g., JWT token), necessary to identify a logged-in user. Deleted upon logout or session expiry (up to 30 days).selectedOrganizationId- stores the identifier of the organization currently selected by the user, which is necessary for the correct operation of the API and data access. Stored for up to 30 days.
Examples (Local Storage):
- Device session and authorization data: We store certain data related to the session and device/browser identification in local storage to manage access (e.g., in
DeviceAuthSessionProvider.tsx).
3.2. Functional Cookies and Data
These allow us to remember your choices and preferences to tailor the platform to your needs and enhance usability. Their use (beyond necessary ones) is based on your consent.
Examples (Cookies):
NEXT_LOCALE- stores information about the selected interface language (30 days).SKILLSIVE_CURRENCY- stores information about the selected currency (30 days).
Examples (Local Storage):
- Remembering filters and search preferences: To make your work easier, we save filter settings.
- Remembering user interface state: E.g., the last selected tab.
- Form data persistence: To prevent data loss when filling out longer forms`), we temporarily save their state in local storage.
3.3. Analytical Cookies (Google Analytics)
We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information about how users use our platform (e.g., which pages they visit, how much time they spend, where they come from). This data is typically anonymous and aggregated, helping us understand platform usage and improve it. The use of these cookies is based on your consent.
Examples (Google Analytics Cookies):
_ga: Registers a unique ID used to generate statistical data on how the visitor uses the website (default: 2 years)._gid: Registers a unique ID used to generate statistical data on how the visitor uses the website (default: 24 hours)._gat: Used by Google Analytics to throttle request rate (default: 1 minute).
For more information on how Google uses cookie data, please see Google's Privacy Policy and the page How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps. You can also opt-out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
3.4. Marketing Cookies
Currently, we do not use marketing cookies or similar technologies for advertising purposes or tracking users on other websites.
4. Third-Party Technologies
As mentioned in section 3.3, we use Google Analytics, which involves Google LLC placing cookies on your device. Apart from Google Analytics, we currently do not use other third-party services that would set their own cookies or store data in local storage through our platform.
5. How long do we store data?
Cookies:
- Session: Automatically deleted when you close your browser.
- Persistent: Remain on your device for a specified period (indicated in the descriptions above, e.g., 30 days for functional cookies, up to 2 years for some analytical cookies) or until you manually delete them.
Local Storage: Data stored in local storage does not have a built-in expiration date. It remains stored until deleted by you (e.g., by clearing browser data) or by our application (e.g., upon logout, task completion).
6. When do we use cookies and obtain consent?
Strictly necessary cookies and local storage data are set automatically when required for the platform to function (e.g., during login, session management).
For the use of functional cookies (e.g., language, currency, which may be set before login) and analytical cookies (Google Analytics), we require your consent. We obtain this consent via an information banner on your first visit. You can manage your consents at any time through [describe mechanism, e.g., 'Cookie Settings' link in the footer, account settings].
7. Managing Cookies and Local Storage
Managing Consents: As mentioned, you can manage consents for functional and analytical cookies via [describe mechanism again].
Browser Settings (Cookies): You can control and delete cookies using your browser settings. Instructions can be found in the previous policy version or in your browser's help section (e.g., Google Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Cookies and other site data).
Browser Settings (Local Storage): Data stored in local storage can usually be deleted through the browser's clear Browse data options (often in the same section as deleting cookies; look for options like 'Site data', 'Offline storage', etc.). You can also use browser developer tools (usually F12 key > 'Application' or 'Storage' tab).
Please note that disabling necessary technologies will prevent you from using the platform. Disabling functional or analytical technologies may limit functionality or prevent us from improving the service.
8. Policy Changes
We reserve the right to make changes to this Policy. Any changes will be published on this page with the last updated date. We may also provide additional notice of significant changes.
